Greater Moncton Corvette Club
Minutes of September 6, 2010
 
The September 6, 2010 meeting of the Greater Moncton Corvette Club took place at the Lounsbury's Meeting Room with the following members present:    Bob and Janice Surette Leontine and Roger Boudreau, Dave Fife, Wayne Gilcash, Wornick Price, Paul Dunn, Skip and Cheryl MacKenzie, Roger Bourgeois, Art and Diane Belliveau, Dwight and Libby Rayworth, Doug MacDonald, Gerry Warren and Annette Fougere Warren.
 
The August minutes stood as read.
 
Financial Report
 
The balance of August 31, 2010 was…………………………….  We have 69 paid members to date.
 
$160 was collected for Autism, at the September 1 Cruise to the Bay.
 
Motion:  It was moved by Wornick, seconded by Wayne Gilcash that the Financial Report be accepted.  Motion carried.
 
Darlene and Mike from the Autism Resource Centre dropped by to pick up two cheques, one for $1,660.00  raised by our club functions, and one for $1,000.00. donated by the Atlantic Nationals.
 
Past Events
 
Aug. 6 & 7 was the CCSNB Show and Shine in Saint John on the waterfront.  Awards were given out at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by a tour and then a meal at Grannans. Three of our club members won Class awards, and the Club participation trophy. 
 
Aug. 14 was a trip to Tetamagouche, Nova Scotia.  11 cars from Moncton and 7 cars from NSCC
Attended.
 
On Aug. 17 we participated in a Show and Shine at the A & W on Trinity Drive with 15 cars participating.  A & W gave out prizes and a discount on food that we purchased.   
 
On Aug. 21/22 7 cars from our club met the Saint John group and headed to St. Andrews for a great weekend.  The weather was fantastic. Six corvette clubs took part. 
 
On September 5, a total of 15 cars participated in a trip to Broadleaf Guest Ranch where we took in the Buffet lunch, visited Lars Larsen's Art Gallery, and then continued on to Alma for ice-cream. 
 
The President reported receiving a cheque for $80 from the Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs as a donation to our July Show and Shine.  It was decided to add the cheque to our regular club funds.
 
Bills for Payment - None
 
For the trip to PEI on Saturday, /Sept. 11,  meet at the Aulac Big Stop for departure at 9:00 a.m.    Those leaving on Sunday Sept 12th, to go to PEI,  should meet at Kent building supplies Champlain Street in Dieppe N.B. at 9:00 a.m. 
 
There are 18 T-shirts left over from our July car show. One small , two 2xl ,rest in XL… IF you would like to purchase any let Bob Surette know. 532-4965
 
On Sept. 18 we will be making a trip to Gasthof Old Barvarian Restaurant in Knightville, N.B. details will be forthcoming
 
On Sept. 19, the St. Antoine N.B.  Car Show will be held.
 
We  received an invitation to participate in Fred's Fall Frolics on Sept. 25. In Belleisle Bay N.B.
It’s a all type car club event at Fred Howlands residence. Food and prizes.. Donations for Cancer will be accepted.
 
On October 2/3, we will leave McDonald's in Sackville N.B. for Bridgewater and Mahone Bay,N.S. for the Scarecrow Festival Cruize, which will include a Dinner, Chinese Auction, and Dance, Then Sunday , a Car show in Mahone Bay N.S.
 
October 9/10/11 will be a trip to Cape Breton to take in the fall colours.  If you are interested contact Gerry Warren and Annette Fougere Warren
 
October 24 will be the Nova Scotia President's Run. 
 
Adjournment came at 7:50 p.m.when Wayne moved, seconded by Roger that the meeting be adjourned.  Motion carried.
 
The 50/50 draw was won by Dave Fife - $16.00.

ON The july 31st /Aug 1st 2010 long weekend, The Greater Moncton Corvette Club, paid a visit to the North, and Northeast part of the Province of New Brunswick. Saturday the 31st of July, we departed the Shediac Area, bound for Miramichi City N.B. with a group Lunch at Goody’s Rock n Roll Diner, located in Newcastle, N.B. Where we met other members of our club.. A walk across the Street to Ritchies wharf, and on board a tour boat operated by Captain Dan . After nearly a two and a half hour cruise on the Miramichi River, we departed for Bathurst N.B. And our overnight stay at the Atlantic Host Hotel..A group meal at the hotel, finished off a beautifull Sunny warm day.
ON Sunday the 1st of August, after everyone had Breakfast, we did a brief  tour of the Downtown area of Bathurst . Then heading Northeast, Downshore , following the Coastline of the Bay of Chaleur, our destination Caraquet N.B. And the Historic Acadian Village. The village is a collection of Eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings, and businesses manned by people in period costumes. After a 4 hour visit at the Village, we were homeward bound. During the weekend a total of 23 corvettes from 3 corvette clubs participated . ..

Minutes of August 2, 2010
The August 2, 2010 meeting of the Greater Moncton Corvette Club was held at Lounsbury's Meeting Room, Main St Moncton, with the following present:
Bob and Janice Surette, Dwight and Libby Rayworth, Wornick Price, Gerry Warren and Annette Fougere Warren, Paul Dunn, Dave and Louise Fyffe, Roger Bourgeois, Skip and Cheryl MacKenzie and new member Bert Collicutt.
 
The Minutes of the July meeting were read and accepted with no corrections.
A thank you card was received from, Dennis and Bernice Wall, club members, for the donation we made on the passing of her father.

Past Business
 
We had 78 cars register for our Show and Shine during the weekend of the Atlantic Nationals.  $1,133 was made on the sale of the T-shirts with approximately 10 left to sell.  Gerry Warren donated a tool box and jacket from Action Truck Cap which were auctioned off at the supper for a total of $145.   Thanks Gerry for these items for the auction.
 
Financial Report
Our balance of August 2 is ……………………………..We have 67 paid members to date.  Motion:   It was moved by Wornick, seconded by Dwight that the financial report be accepted.  Motion carried.  The few hats that were produced sold quickly.  We may order more if there is enough interest. An e-mail will be sent later, inquiring , if there is demand for more hats.

Motion:  It was moved by Dwight, seconded by Skip that we give the Autism Resource Centre $1,500 from the sale of the T-shirts, and proceeds from the items auctioned off.  Motion carried.
 
On July 17,  26 people attended the cruise of the Richibuctou River, on two pontoon boats, organized by Bill and Vivian Keirstead.  This was a great trip enjoyed by everyone who participated.  Thanks again to Bill and Vivian.
 
Motion:  It was moved by Roger Bourgeois, seconded by Wornick that we pay $80  towards the cost of fuel for this boat trip.  Motion carried.
 
On July 24, 13 cars from our club attended the CCNS Show and Shine in Truro.  The weather was great along with the show and the food. Our club members won three class awards, as well as,The club participation award.
 
On July 21-August 1, we had a weekend trip to Miramichi, Bathurst and Caraquet which included a boat ride on the Miramichi River as well as a tour of the Acadian Village in Caraquet.  Roger thanked Bob for the great trip that he had organized for us.
 
Bills for Payment
 
The President presented the following bills for payment totalling $194.89

Show and Shine Supplies $102.06
Lobster Party supplies, from may  $40.16
 
Motion:  It was moved by Roger Bourgeois, second by Paul that these bills be paid.  Motion carried.
 
Upcoming Events
 
On Wednesday, August 4, we will be hosting our second Cruise to the Bay for this summer.  There is also a  Moncton Speed and Custom Club Show and Shine at the Pointe du Chene Wharf that same evening.
 
On August 7, the Corvette Club of Southern New Brunswick will have their Show and Shine, in Saint John N.B,.  We will depart McDonalds Magnet Hill at 9:00 a.m.  Registration fee for the show is $10.
 
On August 14, Bob has organized a Tatamagouche N.S.  Run ,leaving McDonalds in Sackville N.B.  at 12:00 noon.
 
On August 21/22 we will be making a weekend run to St. Andrews N.B. leaving McDonalds Magnetic Hill at 9:00 a.m. 
 
Please note that our August 28 Run to Jemseg has been postponed, To the Fall.
 
There was talk of us holding a small show and shine at the A & W on Trinity Drive on an upcoming Tuesday or Thursday evening.  We will keep you posted.
 
A Thanksgiving Weekend trip may be organized to Cape Breton if enough interest is shown.

Each year The Nova Scotia Corvette Club Hosts its annual Maritime Meet of Corvette Clubs , in Truro N.S. This year July 24 th 2010 was a perfect day for a Corvette Show.
In access of 60 cars were parked together, and Owners mingled and socialized , There were Great door Prizes, and after the awards were handed out a complimentary supper was put on by the host club.. The Greater Moncton Corvette Club participated with 13 cars making the journey to Truro.. Our club won 3 class honors and also won the club participation award..

On july 17th 2010, the weather Gods were good to the Greater Moncton Corvette Club, and delivered a perfect day for what was scheduled . A laid back pontoon boat cruise on the Richibucto River, Starting point Rexton N.B and cruise north for 2 hours.  A total of 26 members on two pontoon boats, enjoyed the weather and scenery along this majestic River.. We then drove our vehicles to Richibucto N.B. For a group supper on the Town’s wharf.. Then a short drive for ice-cream, to compliment the Day..

    The 19th  Annual Greater Moncton Corvette Club Show

July 10th 2010 at Centennial Park in Moncton N.B. The Greater Moncton Corvette Club Hosted 86 Corvettes from Eight Corvette Clubs representing Canada and the State of Maine U.S.A. for its 19th annual Corvette Show, as part of the Atlantic Nationals Auto Extravaganza. A brief rain shower early on turned into sunshine and hot humid conditions.. Lounsburys Automotive ,graciously contributed a 2010 ZR-1, AND A 2010 Grand Sport. Both these created lots of interest from the massive crowds at the event. Over 70 door prizes were handed out. Our Club’s Charity, the Autism resource Center,
Operated a very successful BBQ next to our registration table..
    After the Awards were handed out, There was a group supper at the Moncton Dart Club. Where a Nascar Jacket and Toolbox were auctioned off for Charity.
A BIG thank-you to those who bought event t-shirts to support our Charity..

CORVETTES SEASIDE SEAFOOD RUN

Each year on the weekend of the Atlantic Nationals Auto Show, The Greater Moncton Corvette Club puts on a  Seaside Cruize to a Seafood restaurant on the Northumberland Strait, Northeast of Moncton .  This year July9th 2010 turned out be be a very hot humid day, which didn’t deter the 22 couples who took part in this event..There were Corvettes from 5 different corvette clubs, representing Canada and the U.S.                                                                               After a very substantial lunch at L’aboiteau restaurant on the Wharf at Cap Pele N.B. We followed the Coastline to arrive in Shediac N.B. for socializing at the Tourist welcome center , and to sample some ice-cream to help with the warm temperatures. We then headed back to Moncton to partake in the Downtown Moncton Atlantic Nationals festivities…

On Saturday July 3rd 2010, on a calm Sunny warm day, forty one Corvettes, with an invitation from the City of Halifax, were parked on the Boardwalk  at Bishop’s Landing on Halifax harbor.. The venue was awesome . Lots of interest from the general public, The luxury liner Queen Elizabeth II docked nearby, tour boats in the harbor. We were treated to Pizza and Sangria from Bishops Cellar wine store. With all the activity around the Halifax Waterfront, with vendors , buskers and artists, there was lots to do . At 2.30pm we departed for our various homeward destinations. A big thank-you to the Nova Scotia Corvette Club for organizing such an exciting event..

On  a pleasant Saturday Afternoon, June 26th 2010,  the Greater Moncton Corvette Club, set up a laid back drive through Kent County N.B. Just north east of Moncton ..A total of eighteen Corvettes, took in places like Irishtown, Dundas, St. Paul, where we toured the Cormier Poultry Farm, where over one Million Chickens are grown each year. Then on to Ste. Marie, where we stopped at Cremerie du Quai, for Ice Cream..Onwards to ST. Joseph, then we followed the Coast through the communities of Dixons Point , Cormierville, and Cocagne.  Then to Shediac N.B. For a group meal at the Bayou Restaurant,  Door prizes were Drawn, and everyone enjoyed their meal .. An afternoon very educational and well spent……

Minutes of July 5, 2010
The July 5 meeting of the greater Moncton Corvette Club was held at the Lounsbury’s Meeting Room with the following members present: Bob & Janice Surette, Dave Fiffe, Wornick Price, Zelica & Alfred Landry, Francois Gallant, Paul Dunn, Roger Bourgeois, Diane & Art Belliveau, Libby & Dwight Rayworth, Roger Boudreau and Leontine LeBlanc, Gerry Warren & Annette Fougere Warren, Cheryl & Skip MacKenzie.
A donation was made to the Autism Resource Centre on the passing of  Bernice Wall’s father Laurie Vautour.
Past Events
June 12 – Was an enjoyable trip to the McAdam Train Museum. 16 Corvettes from 3 Corvette Clubs attended..
June 18, 19 – Fiberglass Alley Show in Fredericton. Roger & Angie, Debbie and Brian Palmer went up to Fredericton on Friday evening and took in a BBQ supper, followed by a Casino night. The weather on Saturday was sunny for the show during the day followed by a poker run and supper in the evening. The car count was in excess of 70 vehicles.
June 26 – We enjoyed a tour with Roger & Angie as the hosts around the roads in Kent County, visiting a poultry farm and stopping in Shediac for Supper at The Bayou.
July 3 – There was a trip to Bishop’s Landing in Halifax, joining the Nova Scotia Corvette Club, for a Show and Shine with wine and pizza being served at lunch. Forty one Corvettes, were parked on the Waterfront..On the return trip home, We stopped at the Masstown Market near Truro, then had supper at Patterson’s Restaurant in Sackville N.B..
Financial Report – Janice gave the financial report with a balance of ………………….We have 64 paid members to date.
Motion: It was moved by Roger Bourgeois, seconded by Leontine that the financial report be accepted. Motion carried.
There were no bills for payment.
Our turn to host the Cruise to the Bay will be this Wednesday evening at Highfield Square Parking Lot.
 On July the 10th is the Atlantic Nationals and Our 19th annual Show and Shine:
We will be having a roast Beef Supper at the Dart Club as in past years with the cost being $30 per couple.
On Friday at noon, we will host a cruise to Cape Pele for a lunch on the Wharf and a tour of the area.
T-Shirts will sell for $13 and Hats for $16. This covers our purchase costs.
Motion for the price of the shirts was by Wornick, seconded by Roger Bourgeois. Motion carried.
Motion for the price of the hats was by Dwight, seconded by Janice. Motion carried.
Coming Events:
July 17 – Pontoon Cruise on the River hosted by Bill and Vivian Kierstead.. Supper will be in Richibucto. Rain date is July 18.
July 24 – Nova Scotia Maritime Meet and Stuart’s Kia, Robie ST. in Truro.
July 31 – August 1 – Our Bathurst/Caraquet run.
At 8:25 p.m. Dwight moved, seconded by Janice that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
