Corvetters , one of the most common questions i am asked is "what's your secret for a perfect shine". The answer I give is "Effort and patience". The second most common question I am asked is "what wax do I use to  achieve that showroom shine". There are as many options on the topic of the perfect shine as there are products to achieve it. What I find is that its not exactly the wax, but the technique used applying the products.
The general technique for the perfect shine depends on the condition of your paint. The technique you apply to a corvette that gets 10,000Kms of use a year should be different than a trailer queen. If you regularly use your corvette and it is exposed to the elements, the perfect shine requires you to follow all the steps below. if your corvette is a trailer queen, you often can skip steps 2 and 3.
STEP 1.......Wash it- Wash and thoroughly dry your corvette. You want to make sure you start with a clean surface to polish.

STEP 2 ......Cleanse it - Apply a cleaner polish to your corvette to remove oxidation , road- grime and other minor blemishes. Cleanse a 2 - 3 foot section of the car at a time. This step will restore the surface.

STEP 3.....Prep it - Apply a scratch / swirl remover to sections of the corvette where deeper scratches or blemishes are present. This step will fix any of those annoying scratches or blemishes.

Step 4.....Detail it - Before applying the final polish, use a quick detailer product to remove any residue left from step 2 or step 3. This step will prepare the surface for a top coat of high quality wax.

STEP 5 ....Shine it - Apply a high quality wax to your corvette to build up the amount of shine you desire. A single coat will seal the corvette and provide a decent shine. Additional coats will build the depth of the shine.

Final notes....If you use an electric polisher, be careful not to burn through the clear coat.
Take extra care on the corners.
Most of the Major shine companies (Meguiars, Mothers,Pinnacle, Turtle Wax, Worlds Best Wax, Finish First, and Liquid tech, etc etc...) have products targeted for each stage of the process. These products have all worked well for me . I have never been impressed by a one step gimmick wax.
